The Department of Medieval History, Hamidia Girls’ Degree College, Prayagraj, organized an educational Heritage Walk and Exhibition Visit on 06 October 2026 for students and research scholars. The programme was organized with the objective of promoting experiential learning and providing participants with an opportunity to engage directly with historical sources, heritage and museum collections.
Students of Medieval History, students enrolled in the Multidisciplinary Course (MDC) “Women Icons in India’s Freedom Movement,” and research scholars participated in the visit. The participants visited the Allahabad Museum and viewed the special exhibition on “Women Icons in India’s Freedom Movement.” The exhibition provided valuable insights into the lives, struggles, courage and contributions of women who played significant roles in India’s freedom movement.
The visit enabled students and research scholars to connect their academic learning with authentic historical materials and develop a deeper understanding of the role of women in the national movement. The Heritage Walk also helped participants appreciate the rich historical and cultural heritage of Prayagraj.
Dr. Nuzhat Fatima and Dr. Tabassum Nigar, faculty members of the Department of Medieval History, accompanied and guided the participants throughout the programme. They encouraged students to observe, analyse and interpret historical evidence from an academic perspective.
The visit proved to be an enriching and meaningful academic experience, strengthening historical awareness, research orientation and appreciation of India’s cultural heritage among the participants.
