Celebrating the International Women’s Day, Hamidia Girls’ Degree College organized a program on 6th March, 2024. In view of the theme- ‘Inspire Inclusion’, the college honored the mothers of the Gold Medalists of 2022-23. Mrs. Tazeen Ahsanulla, Manager of the college was the Chief Guest of the function. She encouraged the mothers on this occasion of happiness. She emphasized the contribution of mothers in the success of these students. She also pointed out that this college was established in International Women’s Year in 1975. Dr. Anjum Ahmad, Consultant Doctor, Centre for Women’s Studies of the college talked about the challenging role of women in society. She focused on importance of mothers in shaping the personality of their daughters.
Earlier, Prof. Naseha Usmani, Principal of the College, delivered welcome address. She encouraged the mothers to support their daughters in achieving heights of success. She also thanked the Manager of the college for her guidance at every step. Dr Sabiha Azmi, Director CWS of the College, explained the theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’. She highlighted that women should accelerate their speed in different dimensions in every aspect. Mothers are source of inspiration for their children. She further stressed that women should contribute to the society in a meaningful way. Dr. Shabnam Ara, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Geography also presented a beautiful poem ‘Mujhe Azad Kar Do’ emphasizing Women’s Empowerment.
The programme started with Qirat followed by College Tarana presented by the College Choir. After that Atifa Naaz student of BA I recited a poem ‘Chup ki Daad’. Mothers of topper students: Ayesha Shamim(T.R. Sherwani Memorial Gold Medal), Adeeba Shakeel(Kaneez Zohra Memorial Gold Medal), Myanshi Singh(Masarrat Fatima Memorial Gold Medal), Hera Ahmad(Qudsia Begum Memorial Gold Medal) ,Chandni(Prof. Chandra Pant Memorial Gold Medal), Veena Kumari(Aliya Begum Memorial Gold Medal), Sana Ansari(Abida Khatoon Memorial Gold Medal) and Alqariya Nafees(Qutub Jahan Memorial Gold Medal) were honoured. Dr. Erum F. Usmani, Assistant Director CWS, proposed vote of thanks and suggested that the role of grandmothers should also be recognized in the success of their wards.
