Aahang-2024, Annual Cultural Program was organized by Hamidia Girls’ Degree College on 29th February, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. It was sponsored by UP Urdu Akademi, Lucknow. Mr. S.M. Adil Hasan, Secretary UP Urdu Akademi, Lucknow was the Chief Guest and Prof. Shabnam Hameed, Head , Dept. of Urdu, University of Allahabad was the Guest of Honour of this function.

The Annual Cultural program started with Sarva Dharma Prarthana by the students of the College. On this juncture two exhibitions were held- ‘Urdu Calligraphy Exhibition on Ghalib, Meer & Iqbal’ and ‘Innovative Art of Needle’ by Dept of Fashion Designing & Embroidery. Thereafter College Tarana was presented, followed by Stand-up Comedy, Ganga Jamuni Mushaira, Ghazal and the Play Intezar.





The Chief Guest congratulated the college for this wonderful program. He also appreciated the importance of education focused in the College Tarana. He thanked the entire Hamidia family for this successful event. Appreciating the play ‘Intezar’ he said that it was based on the realistic theme and is quite relevant in the present scenario. This play was directed by Mrs. Neerja Verma, Coordinator, Cultural Committee, HGDC. Guest of Honour, Prof. Shabnam Hameed also appreciated the program and praised the Ganga Jamuni Mushaira. She emphasized the influence of cultural program in shaping the all round personality of the students. The Mushaira was performed by the students enacting famous Urdu & Hindi poets and prepared under direction of Dr. Nasreen Begum, Associate Professor, Dept. of Ancient History & Dr. Zareena Begum, Associate Professor, Dept. of Urdu.

Earlier, Welcome Address was delivered by the College Principal Prof. Naseha Usmani. She highlighted the progress of the college. On this occasion Mr. Mohd. Nasrullah, Urdu Calligraphy Teacher was honored for his immense contribution in the successful running of Urdu Calligraphy course being run in the college with the sponsorship of U.P. Urdu Akademi, Lucknow. Dr. Zareena Begum, Coordinator, Urdu Calligraphy Centre highlighted the progress of this Centre in the college. Memorial Medals were also distributed to the UG & PG topper students of 2022-23. This medal distribution was conducted in the supervision of Dr. Sabiha Azmi, Associate Professor, Dept. of English.


The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mrs. Neerja Verma, Associate Professor, Dept. of English. The compeering of the program was done by Miss Maryam Haidery and Miss Uzma Khan, students of M.A. English, Sem-IV. The program concluded with the National Anthem.
