Hamidia Girls Degree College, Prayagraj, on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee Year 2025, the Health Committee of the College organised a “Health Festival” from 11 September to 17 September 2025 in collaboration with Prayagraj Hospital, Kareli and Inner Wheel Club of Allahabad Midtown. The inaugural ceremony was held in Begum Kwaja khursheed Hall of the college on 11 September at 2 pm. Program started with the qirat presented by Afifa Bano college alumina. Bouquet and momentos were presented to guest.The chief guest on this occasion was Dr. Harsh Vardan Atrey, Director, Medical and Hemato Oncology, Medanta Super Specialty Hospital, Lucknow. Dr.. Syed Aariz Qadri (Director, Prayagraj Hospital, Kareli) and Ms. Viniti Agarwal (Inner Wheel Club, Allahabad Midtown) were present as special guests.
Dr. Harsh Vardan Atrey, Director, Medical and Hemato Oncology, Medanta Super Specialty Hospital, Lucknow, presented a presentation the topic Say No to Tobacco and Yes to Life. Dr. Harsh Vardhan Atreya advocates against tobacco use, promoting “Say No to Tobacco” campaigns and encouraging youth to make healthy choices. As a medical and hemato-oncology expert, he emphasized the severe health consequences of tobacco consumption, such as lung and oral cancers, and highlights the importance of a tobacco-free future for stronger communities. He encouraged people to quit tobacco and embrace a healthier, longer life, as tobacco use is a major preventable cause of death worldwide, leading to diseases like cancer, heart disease, and lung conditions. Quitting tobacco has significant health benefits, improves well-being, and protects loved ones from the dangers of secondhand smoke.
Dr. Syed Aariz Qadri (Director, Prayagraj Hospital, Kareli) appreciated the ideology of the college as its celebrated its golden Jubilee by organising Health Carnival and taking initiative for community welfare. He motivated students to create awareness for tobacco free society encourage students to took initiative for tobacco free society and explain how one can play an important role in quitting tobacco from the life of their loved ones.. He discussed various health schemes with the students and assured everyone for his help in getting benefits of various health schemes.
Viniti Agarwal (Inner Wheel Club, Allahabad Midtown) while interacting the Audience said that the Healthy girls are the true strength of society.. Healthy girls are foundation of healthy family and communities. healthy girl plays a vital role by fostering personal well-being through self-care and healthy habits, strengthening her family by providing primary care and nurturing its health, and building a strong community by contributing to the workforce and promoting overall societal health and gender equality. Her health directly impacts her ability to care for others, educate her children, and participate fully in society, making her well-being essential for a thriving family and community. She appreciated the initiative of the college for organising a health carnival.
Earlier the welcome address was delivered by the principal of the College Professor Naseeha Usmani.She explained the objective of the program and said that the objective of this festival is to increase health awareness especially among women and to provide information related to prevention and solution of problems like gynecology, nutrition, heart disease, eye disease and tuberculosis. She highlighted the development and achievements of the college.
This program was organized by the Health Committee, Hamidia Girls Degree College, Prayagraj. The patron of the committee is Mrs. Tazeen Ehsanullah, President Prof. Naseha Usmani, Convener Prof. Sabiha Azmi. The committee includes Mrs. Neerja Verma, Prof. Iram Farid Usmani, Dr. Shabana Aziz, Dr. Zarina Begum, Dr. Siddiqua Jabir and Mrs. Sharmeen Fatima as active members.
Inaugural session was conducted by Prof. Erum Farid Usmani, Department of Sociology, HGDC and Prof. Sabiha Azmi, Coordinator, Health Committee,HGDC proposed vote of thanks. Program ended with National Anthem. Students and members of the community actively participated in the program.
