Green Tribute to Sir Syed: A Golden Jubilee Reflection

As Hamidia Girls’ Degree College marked its Golden Jubilee, the campus bloomed with purpose through a special initiative titled “Green Tribute to Sir Syed.” Organized under the guidance of Dr. Nuzhat Fatima, the event blended historical reverence with ecological responsibility.
The highlight of the celebration was a plantation drive, where 50 saplings were planted—each symbolizing a year of the college’s journey. Students from the Basics of Gardening skill course played a pivotal role in preparing the selecting native species, and nurturing the plants.Students from various departments participated enthusiastically, reflecting the spirit of growth and sustainability.An event featured a Green Pledge Ceremony where students committed to sustainable living and ecological care.
The Principal Prof. Naseha Usmani praised students’ enthusiasm and dedication, urging them to pursue education with passion and perseverance.
“Your efforts and resilience are the true celebration of Sir Syed’s dream,” she affirmed.
The event highlighted the collective spirit of learning, reminding all that education thrives when rooted in values and nurtured with care.
During Sir Syed Day celebrations, Dr. Nuzhat shared an inspiring message comparing education to a garden. She emphasized that students are like seeds, full of potential, and educators are gardeners who nurture growth through knowledge and care.
“Just as a garden flourishes with sunlight and attention, so does the mind with curiosity and guidance,” she said.
Her words echoed Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s vision of holistic education, reminding us that learning thrives when rooted in values and sustained by collective effort.
